DIABOLICAL EGGSMORE DEVILED THAN DEVILED EGGS.
Ah, the deviled egg. Why such a cruel name for such a delicious snack? Turns out, the term “deviled” was used most often to describe “zesty” or “spicy” food and was first used in print in the late 1700s. While the traditional deviled egg isn’t necessarily spicy, it uses ingredients such as mustard and pepper which are.
The more you know–and when this is a trivia question one day and you win a Ford Fiesta or a Bahamian cruise, think fondly of my deviled egg recipe. Also, I love cruises–so the answer is yes, I will go on that cruise with you.
Prep Time: 10 min
6 hard boiled eggs
1/2 teaspoon dried mustard
1/4 cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons Sweet Viking™ Relish
Salt + pepper to taste
Cayenne pepper (for decoration)
1) Slice those hard boiled eggs in half lengthwise and plop the egg yolks into a bowl and smash them up. Keep those naked egg whites handy.
2) In previously mentioned bowl, add the mayo, relish, mustard, salt + pepper and mix it. Mix it real good.
3) Scoop that delicious sunshine colored goodness back into the egg whites with a spoon for efficiency.
4) If you want to be super fancy like I was, you can using a piping bag to make it look glitzy. I also added sliced peppers from one of the Sweet Viking™ sliced varieties we offer 🙂
